Leek is the market town at the top of the Staffordshire Moorlands, and unlike most towns of its size it has no railway station, so almost everyone gets in and out by car. I have lost my car key at Tittesworth Water or up at the Roaches. Can you get out there?
Yes, the reservoir car park and the roadside parking below the Roaches are within our ST13 coverage. We make a new key at the car using the equipment in the van, so there is no need to recover it back into town first. Phone signal is patchy up there, so if you can, ring from the visitor centre or a spot with a bar of signal and tell us exactly where the car is parked.
The blade on my old car key is worn and it will not turn the ignition. Do I need a whole new key?
Often not. If the transponder chip still works we can cut a fresh blade and fit it into a new case, or convert a tired two-piece key into a flip key while keeping the chip. If the blade has snapped off in the lock we can remove the broken piece. A full replacement is only needed when the chip has failed or the key has gone altogether.
