Staffordshire is the one county where we cover only three towns, and they sit together on the Staffordshire Moorlands side of the Potteries. Leek is the moorland market town, high up on the A53 with the Roaches, Tittesworth reservoir and Rudyard Lake just outside it and a Wednesday market that fills the town centre car parks. Biddulph runs along the A527 in its own valley under Biddulph Moor, with Biddulph Grange Garden drawing National Trust visitors. Kidsgrove is different again: a canal and railway town at the north end of the Potteries, with the Harecastle Tunnel on the Trent and Mersey and a station used by commuters.

All three are ST postcodes: ST13 for Leek, ST8 for Biddulph and ST7 for Kidsgrove. Kidsgrove and Biddulph both border Cheshire, while Leek looks the other way towards the Peak District. That mix of moorland visitor, commuter into the Potteries and local resident is what the area is made of, and the van is set up for all of it: spare keys cut and programmed in a car park, a lockout opened without damage on a farm track, a worn key or a broken flip key rebuilt at the kerb.
